Greetings from Plywood Palace

Greetings from Plywood Palace was an installation/exhibition first time made in 2007. A room was built up inside the gallery, the boudoir of Miss Kristina. In this room floor tiles, wallpaper, furniture and other utilities were made of plywood. The intention was that it could work as a three dimensional postcard from the imaginary palace.
Plywood - wood in thin layers with crossing fibers - is a common in buildings and furniture as a construction material. The stripes on the edges in the material are very interesting. If using it for modeling organic forms the stripes will affect the visual expression. It can distort form but can also be used for making patterns to underline parts of the object.

Stripes is a wonderful possibility and the easiest way to make a pattern. It is also one of the most common patterns in northern Europe.

The installation have been shown in other places and settings. New objects have been added to the "boudoir" and the palace. It includes small objects as jewellery and boxes to furniture, urns and pillars.
